About Elephanta beach

Elephanta  its stunning natural beauty and historical significance. While many visitors flock to this pristine beach for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life, its history is rich and varied, reflecting the broader historical narratives of the Andaman Islands.The beach gets its name from the Elephanta Caves, which are situated on Elephanta Island near Mumbai. The caves, famous for their rock-cut sculptures dedicated to the God Shiva, were discovered by the British in the 19th century and became a popular tourist destination. The name “Elephanta” was derived from a large stone elephant statue that once stood on the island, although it has since been relocated.
